The primary function of LaseLCPS is to prevent load collisions. It can detect container profiles in stacking areas and determine the load position simultaneously. Each system consists of laser scanners that are mounted on the crane under the trolley platform. The system informs the crane PLC to reduce the crane travel speed or even to stop, in the event of a looming collision or near miss.
The integrated, automatic object recognition system can detect simultaneously up to 20 stationary or moving objects in the path of a vehicle. By comparing the current speed, the motion vector and fixed parameters such as the braking distance, the collision probability is calculated by the 3D sensor and transferred to the machine control system via CAN bus or Ethernet, and then signalled to the driver.
